   Herbed Toast

 1 long baguette or 1 pkg. twin small baguettes
2 sticks butter or margarine
3 tsp. dried herbs (2 tsp. Italian herbs and 1 tsp.            Herbs of Provence or other herbs of your choice
2 small cloves garlic or 1 large, pressed
dash or 2 Tabasco
4 TBSP grated Parmesan cheese

Slice bread into 1/4 inch slices and lay flat side by side in a jelly roll pan.  Melt butter and add garlic, herbs and Tabasco.  Cool mixture a little and then add cheese, mixing well.  With a small spoon, spread herbs and butter on each slice of bread, top side only.  Bake in a preheated 350 oven for 10 to 12 minutes or until light brown.  Transfer slices to racks and cool completely.  When cool, store in tins.
